Industries Suited for Fluoropolymers
Teflon® and other fluoropolymer coatings are useful for a wide array of industries. Below are just some of them.
Food Processing – The food processing industry has tons of uses for fluoropolymer coatings. These coatings are nonstick and resistant to abrasions. They also can withstand temperatures up to 500°F for continuous use. This makes them very useful in the food processing industry, where high cooking temperatures are constant and sticky food is often used. When Teflon® and other coatings are used, food doesn’t stick, which means that production can keep moving forward, rather than stopping often to unclog machines. Also, nonstick means that machines are easier to clean when they are stopped, so that you can get back to work faster. If you’re in the food processing industry, you should highly consider coating the parts for your equipment with Teflon®. And it’s been approved by the FDA, so you know it’s safe for contact with food.
Packaging Machinery – Packaging machinery greatly benefits when the parts that comprise the machines are coated with Teflon® or another fluoropolymer. These parts are often touching thin plastic films or foils and these materials can jam up machines when they stick to the parts, rather than moving down the line as they should. Parts with Teflon® coatings from Coating Solutions, Inc., perform at a higher standard as opposed to non-coated parts.
Machine Shops – Many times customers for machine shops asked to have a newly made part coated with a fluoropolymer. Because it’s often just one or two parts, these machine shop always turn to us because we have the lowest minimum lot charge in the industry. And everyone wins because of it. The machine shop gets to charge less for the part, customers are happy, and they keep coming back.
