Teflon® Coating Substrates

There are many materials that can have Teflon® and other fluoropolymer coatings applied to them. The main issue that determines whether or not a material can be coated with a fluoropolymer is the cure temperature of the coating. For example, tin and lead have low melting points and therefore can’t withstand the cure temperature of most Teflon® products. However, there are other issues that come into play, such as the low adhesion rates of magnesium and copper, which makes applying Teflon® to them extremely hard. Some substrates that have good adhesion and high melting points and are therefore good for Teflon® coating applications include:
